Director's Notes
Erik Ehn was very illuminating in the rehearsal of his work.
He spent one very intense week rehearsing with the cast and
helping all of us understand the simplicity and depth of the
text. When asked to describe his work Erik fired off a volley
of different interpretations:
“ Frederico Garcia lorca referred to his work as Hecho
Poetico Poetic Fact. The work is complete and self sufficient.
There is not an
allegory or secret message. The meaning of the play is in
the play.”
“This is a dream's response to violence.”
“The style is New Trollism . . the Head Troll is Mac
Wellman,
other Trolls include Suzan-lori Parks, Jeff Jones and myself.”
“Myth is something that never happens and
something that always happens.”
These comments are paraphrased from conversations with
Erik.

Dolphin's Song (an excerpt from Moira McOc)
If ever there was a reason
Or a season of forgiveness
If ever there was a method
Or a number we could guess
We could justify the hammer
To the nail, the ax to the tree
The choke to the breath, and justify
Freedom to slavery
Oh my conscience I have studied
All your billet doux
Oh my conscience
I've read books
And I still don't know
What to do
